Her mind tried to fight a bloody battle against what her body already knew. She wanted him, and she wanted him bad.

On the heels of college graduation and the unexpected death of her mother, Emily Cooper moves to New York City to join her boyfriend for a fresh start. Dillon Parker has been sweet, thoughtful, and generous through Emily’s loss, and she can’t imagine her life without him—even as her inner voice tells her to go slow.

Then she meets Gavin Blake. A rich and notorious playboy, Gavin is dangerously sexy and charming as hell. Their first encounter is brief, but it’s enough to inflame Emily’s senses. When their paths cross again through an unexpected mutual acquaintance, she tries to deny the connection she feels, but Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome won’t let go so easily.

As she discovers Gavin’s pain-filled past and Dillon’s true nature begins to surface, Emily knows she must take action or risk destroying everyone—including herself. But how can she choose when she can’t trust her own heart?

    Best book ever!
  • Dragged out story with pathetic lead lady and a sad lead man

    By WingyinJ
For 8 dollars you would expect better writing; storyline was mediocre and while I like the idea of a twist in beginning with the lady already having a bf..towards the end you just want to rip your hair out. I have read the full story because it's already paid for, and the author expects me to pony up another 8 to finish? I can already see the ending on the wall and with the way this was thanks. Even if it was free I would say it's not worth it but if it were free I probably would have skipped a neg review.
  • A rollercoaster of emotions.

    By Cypriann
Collide by Gail McHugh is a roller coaster of emotions and if I could have given it 10 stars I would have. I was captivated by the first chapter “Chance Encounters”. This is where we meet Emily Cooper, a recent college graduate, who has just recently lost her mother to cancer. She is getting a fresh start by moving to New York City to live with her best friend Olivia and be near her boyfriend Dillon. Oh how I love Miss Olivia, he feisty, tenacious ways are stark contrast to Emily’s prim and proper demeanor. Dillon on the other hand, is an over bearing, manipulative horses arse. After taking on a job as a waitress at a small café, she meets Tall, Dark, and Handsome Gavin Blake, who she later finds out is actually friends with her boyfriend and small group of friends. Oh Gavin, Gavin, how I love thee. He is a charmer, a swooner and all around good guy. What is not to love about him? There were times throughout the book I wanted to slap some sense into Emily, I am so glad I kept going. This is not your normal girl meets boy and falls in love type of story. These characters are complex and the story is not all butterflies and rainbows. I can’t believe I waited so long to read it, looking forward to the second book Pulse as the first book ended on a cliff hanger.

  • Good but SO Frustrating!!!

I normally don't write reviews and I really did like this book, but at times this storyline is so frustrating to read! Emily's going back and forth throughout the book made me want to pull out my hair. Her character just came across as so weak right up until the end. And now I have to read the second book to see what happens. Overall, I liked it, but I would've liked to see Emily have more of a backbone.
